the courses required for the certificate in journalism are:

• ar 1400 - basic photography (3)

• or

• jn 3450 - photojournalism (3)

upper division requirements:

four upper-division courses selected from the following:

• ct 4890 - seminar in mass media (3)
• jn 3030 - feature writing (3)
• jn 3040 - advanced reporting and editing (3)
• jn 3500 - introduction to public relations (3)
• jn 4170 - principles of advertising (3)

note(s):

a grade of c or better is required for each upper-division course for the certificate. (a grade of c- will not satisfy the requirement.) the certificate in journalism is not available to degree-seeking students seeking a minor in journalism. admission to the program requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. students with previous college work should request that an official transcript be sent to the office of admission.
